Supercharged Solar for Renters opened on 12 December 2025: up to $3,500 for landlords putting solar on a tenanted property rented at $1,000 a week or less. Conditional approval has to come before you buy or install. If you live in the place yourself, it isn't for you.
Queensland hasn't had a state battery rebate since Battery Booster closed in May 2024. The federal schemes are the whole stack for owner-occupiers: about $5,392 on a typical solar plus 13.5 kWh battery install.
Ergon's mandated regional feed-in tariff fell 31% to 6.006c/kWh on 1 July 2026. The less an exported kilowatt-hour earns, the more a stored one is worth.
Dated update: QLD Battery Booster closed in May 2024 and was not restarted.
How the QLD solar rebate works in 2026
There is no single "QLD solar rebate". What you claim is a stack. The federal solar STC discount under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme is about $1,784 on a 6.6 kW system in STC Zone 3. QLD adds no general panel rebate. If a battery goes in too, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount adds about $3,608 on a 13.5 kWh battery (about $270 per usable kWh on the first 14 kWh). Everything is applied at the point of sale by your installer. You never receive cash; you just pay less.
Eligibility checklist for the federal solar rebate
- A new solar system of up to 100 kW, which is the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) limit.
- Panels and inverter on the Clean Energy Council's approved product list.
- Designed and installed by a Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accredited installer.
- The installation date sets the deeming period: 5 years for a system installed by 31 December 2026, 4 after that.
- No income test and no form for you to lodge: the installer creates the STCs and takes the value off the quote.

Supercharged Solar for Renters
LiveQueensland's one live state solar rebate. Landlords get up to $3,500 towards rooftop solar on a tenanted property, so the tenant gets the bill saving. Opened 12 December 2025 and expected to reach about 6,500 renting households. It does not apply to the home you live in yourself.

Why storing beats exporting in Queensland
South-east Queensland (Energex network) is deregulated: retailers' best generally available offers run 0-10 c/kWh, with the higher rates usually limited to the first 8-10 kWh you export each day. Regional Queensland (Ergon network) has a mandated feed-in tariff of 6.006 c/kWh for 2026-27, cut 31% from 8.66c the year before. Evening grid rates are 5-7x higher than what exports earn.
The feed-in tariff is what your retailer pays for exported solar. It's not part of the rebate, but it is the reason the battery maths works: every kilowatt-hour you store and use at night is worth what you'd otherwise pay the grid in the evening, several times what a midday export earns.

Only people who were already on it. The Solar Bonus Scheme closed to new entrants on 9 July 2012, so you cannot join now. Ergon customers in regional Queensland who enrolled before that date keep their legacy rate.
