ACT retailer feed-in rates

Each row is the retailer's best generally available flat rate in ACT: open to anyone switching, with no battery, VPP, membership or sales-channel condition. Highest first. A plan listed for less than two more weeks isn't used as a retailer's rate; it's noted as "ending soon".

Time-varying and conditional offers

How ACT feed-in tariffs are regulated

No regulated minimum feed-in tariff in the ACT. Retailers set voluntary rates, usually higher on the first few kWh you export each day. ActewAGL is the largest provider.

What the daily cap actually means

Of the 6 retailers with a generally available flat rate above zero in ACT, 4 pay it only up to a daily cap (5 kWh: 1 retailer, 8 kWh: 1 retailer, 10 kWh: 1 retailer and 15 kWh: 1 retailer); after the cap the rate drops to between 1c and 5c. 2 pay one rate on every kWh.

For example, Origin Energy's 10c/kWh on the first 8 kWh a day, then 5c pays $0.80 for the first 8 kWh each day. Exporting twice that, 16 kWh, earns $1.20, because the second 8 kWh are paid at 5c. Your daily export depends on your system size, the season and how much you use during the day.

What an exported kWh is worth

Each kWh you export earns the feed-in rate. Each kWh of solar you use yourself instead saves a kWh at your plan's usage rate, which is on the plan's fact sheet. Our savings calculator estimates both for your postcode, and a home battery stores daytime solar for the evening instead of exporting it.

Switching retailers for a better FIT

  1. Compare plans for your postcode on Energy Made Easy, the government's free comparison site.
  2. Compare the whole plan for your own usage: the feed-in credit, the daily supply charge and the usage rates, not just the feed-in rate.
  3. Check the plan's fact sheet for the daily cap on the feed-in, the rate after it, and any exit fee.

Common questions

What is the best solar feed-in tariff in the Australian Capital Territory?

On the published rate alone, the highest generally available flat feed-in tariff in the AER plan data as at 29 October 2026 is 10c/kWh on the first 8 kWh a day, then 5c from Origin Energy. Offers that pay more have conditions: Origin Energy's Origin Solar Partner Plus pays 12c/kWh on the first 8 kWh a day, then 5c and needs a system bought through the retailer's installer. The rate is one part of a plan: check the daily cap, the rate after it, the daily supply charge and the usage rates on the plan's fact sheet before you switch.

Who pays the highest solar feed-in tariff in the Australian Capital Territory?

Ranked by the flat rate open to anyone switching, in the AER plan data as at 29 October 2026: Origin Energy, 10c/kWh on the first 8 kWh a day, then 5c; EnergyAustralia, 8c/kWh on the first 10 kWh a day, then 3c; CovaU, 5.5c/kWh with no daily cap (standing offer). The table on this page ranks all 6 retailers with a flat rate above zero, highest first. Offers that need a battery, VPP enrolment or another condition can pay more and are listed separately; the plan's daily cap, supply charge and usage rates matter too.

Is there a minimum feed-in tariff in the Australian Capital Territory?

No regulated minimum in ACT. Retailers set their own voluntary rates. Use the AER's Energy Made Easy comparison tool for the current live picture.

Should I pick the retailer with the highest feed-in tariff?

Not always. The headline FIT rate is just one factor. Check the daily cap (the rate after the cap is usually much lower), the daily supply charge, and the import (peak/off-peak) rates. A high FIT plan with a high daily supply charge and high import rates can be worse overall than a moderate FIT plan with competitive imports. Run it through the AER's Energy Made Easy comparison to compare like-for-like.

Will my feed-in tariff change over time?

Yes, it can. Retailers can change the feed-in rate on a market offer. Each retailer page shows the snapshots of the AER plan data we've recorded and any change between them; the rates on this page are from 29 October 2026.
