Our Queensland page used to say the state had nothing of its own. That was right about batteries and wrong about panels. Queensland Treasury has been running Supercharged Solar for Renters since 12 December 2025, and it is a real state rebate worth up to $3,500. We have added it to our QLD rebates page and corrected the wording.
What Supercharged Solar for Renters actually pays
It pays the landlord, not the tenant, up to $3,500 towards rooftop solar on a rented Queensland home, so the tenant gets the bill saving. Queensland Treasury expects it to reach about 6,500 renting households.
To be eligible:
- The landlord applies, and needs the tenant's consent.
- The property has to be rented at $1,000 or less per week, with an existing tenancy agreement.
- The system has to be at least 3 kW and include a generation signalling device.
- Panels and inverter have to be Clean Energy Council approved, installed by a Solar Accreditation Australia accredited installer.
- You must get conditional approval before you buy or install anything. Install first and you lose the rebate.

If you live in the house yourself, this one isn't for you
There is no Queensland Government rebate for owner-occupiers in 2026. Your money comes from the two federal schemes: solar STCs on the panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries discount on a battery. Both are taken off the installer's price at the point of sale, so there is nothing to claim back afterwards. You can see your own stacked number on the calculator.
There is no "$3,700 Queensland homeowner rebate"
A lot of solar company blogs push a "$3,700 homeowner rebate in Queensland". No Queensland Government program by that name exists. The figure is a marketing nickname for the federal solar STC discount, which changes with system size, install year and your postcode's STC zone, so it is never a flat $3,700.
One thing worth correcting, because we have seen it repeated on pages ranking at the top of Google: you do not apply to the Clean Energy Regulator for it, and there is no 12 month claim window you have to meet. Your accredited installer creates the certificates and takes the value straight off your quote. If a salesperson tells you to lodge a form yourself, that is a reason to slow down.
