What the calculator stacks in ACT

Three things, in this order. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, 6.8 STCs per usable kWh at $39.90 a certificate. The federal solar STC rebate, about $1,796 on a 6.6 kW system in ACT's STC Zone 3, if you are installing panels too. ACT has no live battery rebate to add, so the calculator does not pretend otherwise. Closed programs are never included.

ACT calculator questions

How do I calculate the federal battery rebate?

Multiply your battery's usable capacity by 6.8 STCs per kWh, round down to a whole certificate, then multiply by the $39.90 certificate price. Only the first 14 kWh counts in full: capacity from 14 to 28 kWh counts at 60%, 28 to 50 kWh at 15%, nothing above. A 13.5 kWh battery earns 91 STCs, about $3,631 gross, which your installer takes off the quote rather than paying you.

How much does the battery rebate drop?

On 1 January 2027 the federal factor falls from 6.8 to 5.7 STCs per usable kWh. On a 13.5 kWh battery that is $3,631 today versus $3,032 after, a drop of $599 for the same install. It keeps stepping down every 1 January and 1 July until the program ends on 31 December 2030. The date that counts is the certificate of electrical compliance, not the day you sign.

How much is the battery rebate in Australian Capital Territory?

About $3,631 on a 13.5 kWh battery, all of it federal: ACT has no point-of-sale battery rebate of its own right now. Add the federal solar STC rebate of about $1,796 on a 6.6 kW system if you are installing panels at the same time. Verified 13 July 2026.
